Are you creative, talented and innovative? Then you have the best qualifications to take part in the third German edition of the Bombay Sapphire Designer Glass Competition. Young designers have the chance to put their talent on test and make a big step forward onto the stage of international design. The challenge consists in developing a Martini glass inspired by Bombay Sapphire, that is both aesthetic and practical. The designs can be submitted on the Competition’s official website, between February 1 and March 31, 2008. A renowned jury made up of members of the German design scene, including architect and designer Hadi Teherani and Carsten Kehrein, head designer from Rastal, will judge the entries. The participation is open to all design-interested, to students and graduates from German art schools (minimum age: 18 years). The final degree must not date back more than 3 years. The first prize of the German competition is of 2000€ and also the ticket to the global final at the London Design Festival in September 2008, the UK’s biggest design event, with a first prize that amounts to 10.000 GBP. The winning glass will be produced and then travel with its creator to London. Here they will meet the winners from the other national competitions from all over the world. The focus of the competition lies in the technical processing of glass, considering the aesthetical and design aspect. The competition is open to all students from design and art schools. Functionality, innovation and aesthetics are the main criteria for the judging – together with the inspiration from the brand Bombay Sapphire.
